how to bind one dropdown item when we get it from db ?

Dear All I would require task that i need to bind the one dropdown item when i get it from db.. Even it should show the item without error  if column is null .. i had a coding that is not working !..can u give any alternative idea for that!.. Thanks in advance !.. Ernesto Karthik.
