No, you can't write to a file with a messagebox. Instead of being true using (System.IO.StreamWriter writer = new System.IO.StreamWriter("C:test.txt", true)) change it to false using (System.IO.StreamWriter writer = new System.IO.StreamWriter("C:test.txt", false))

Put this under Write to file using (System.IO.StreamWriter writer = new System.IO.StreamWriter("C:test.txt", true)) { writer.WriteLine("whatever you want"); } this will open a test.txt file at that location and append to it if it already contains information.

The reader is taking the entire text in your RichTextBox control and giving you an interface to read each line. In the code you will put the reader in a while look to read each line till the end of the file. When you have the current line, you will check your hash collection to see if it contains the line in one of its values. Do you have other questions?

There are you ways, the first is grabbing the Text property and splitting it on the new line scape sequence.
