how to compare two different tables column in sql server

i want to compare two different columns from two different tables in sqlserver ex. tbl_t1 col1 tbl_t2 col1

If you are working in SQL 20082012+ then use merge command in which you have to give source and destination table. There is two question- 1- Is both table in same database? 2-Is both from other database?
