But if you've generated these pages already won't the appropriate table already appear when the page is displayed? If the url for a specific page always has a query string containing the same id I don't really see the point of parsing it out unless you're somehow going to generate dynamic content from it or redirect to a further url.

Suppose i have 2 cities related to one category i.e for example: Bangalore & Hydrabadh which are related to  software development and chennai & Delhi related to BPO I should be able to generate pages for softwaredevelopment and BPO which should have table of related cities. Do you mean how can you access the page url from within the page you've redirected to itself? If you do then you'd need to embed Javascript within the page to obtain the url and then parse out the id from the query string.
