how to convert string into datetime formatt?

Dear all  i have a string that is like --11/02/2016 now in my database i have the date column with datatype datetime so i want to convert these string into datetime .so please help me in c# .

thanks but not solved my problem  a have a callender controle am selecting date in callender while am calling thease date as a string because json retuns date in defferent formatts so insted of that i just declared that as a string am getting the date from callender like 11/02/2016 its clearly string formattbut i want call a proc with date column datatype is datetime .so please tell me how can i pass thease varble
