How to copy an object?

I want to copy the contents of a hashtable to another hashtable. I tried the following ways: //ht1 ht2 are two hashtables 1. ht1=ht2; 2. ht1=new Hashtable(); ht1=ht2; In both ways the reference is copied instead of the data. Are there any way that I can copy it? Thanks a lot

Thank you guys for replies. I tried different ways and found that the most convenient way might be override the Clone method to copy the elements one by one. It seems that C# designers don't think it is a good idea to pass objects. And they give little support for it.

I don't know if Hashtable has a copy constructor or if it has the Clone method. If it does then use those. If not you might want to write your own inherited Hashtable class that does have a copy contructor or a Clone method. At the worst you could use loops to copy the elements. I don't know if it is helpful. Maybe only worth $0.01...

What about: ht1=new Hashtable(ht2); or another constructors ?
