You can't rely on the forum category. People put everything into this form. If a developer knows what a class library is then they would not be asking this question. Knowing what forum to use depends on knowing what type of DLL is needed.

As the OP is asking the question under the C# Language category, then I thought it was a fair bet that it was a C# class library that he wanted to create. If he'd been asking it under the Visual C++ category, then clarification would definitely have been needed.

I really think that the first response to this question is a request for clarification of what type of DLL is needed. If Magesh needs a regular DLL then nothing here will help. I must repeat what I have said in the past; if it is a class library that is needed, then it should be called a class library.

There are very many types of DLL files. You must know what type of DLL file you need. If none of hte previous replies helps you, then please specify what type of DLL that you need.

The dynamic link library(dll) is collection of class which build as dll file and it can be used across multiple applications. It can have any number of classes and the methods which are defined as public will be accessed out side. * It cannot be run Independent. * It should be add as reference in the application or other library. Right click the soultion >> Add new project >> select the class library. After the logic written in the dll, right click the project and build. This dll can be added as reference to the other class library. The version can be added using sn (strong name) and can be added to the GAC folder.

Just create a new class library project and proceed as normal. Notice that you need to declare your classes as public if you want them to be accessible to consumers of the dll file. Notice also that you won't be able to run the dll directly as it does not have a Main() method. You will need to create a sample exe project to test it by adding a reference to the dll file to that project.
