how to create session what changes shall be made in web.config

i want to use session in my application at website is develop at file location. how it create & maintain ?what is use of viewstate?please answer.

view state always maintain the state of anything with in the page . and it is occupy the space in client system(means store in client) but sessions will keep in server side and more secure only session id will travel between client and server. use: 1.with in a page u want to maintain state go to ViewState 2.do you maintain state with in application to to session.
