How to develop very high traffic Web pages?

Hi I would like to implement a web application which has 10 million hits in a month. I would be grateful if you can tell me how to develop and design such a web app? What are the most important points?best practices etc etc. best Regards.

Hi I suggest you to following some of things. 1) Use the CSS layout 2) Do not use the lot of images 3) Do not use more view states 4) Cache the pages which are not frequent. 5) Do not post back to the server oftently. Use the Ajax 6) Use the Stored procedure 7) Use the javascript for the validation and some of the client operations Still if it is slow then i would suggest you to to Load Balancing.
