How to diaplay date and time in specific format

Question

Hi,

I have a table  name- events into which I have to display Event  date in this format (Fri 18 February) and that should be in separate column. And as well as  time in separate column in this format (9:00 am or 5:30 ) What datatype i should use anyone please help me out.. asap its urgent
