How to diaplay date and time in specific format

Hi I have a table name- events into which I have to display Event date in this format (Fri 18 February) and that should be in separate column. And as well as time in separate column in this format (9:00 am or 5:30 ) What datatype i should use anyone please help me out.. asap its urgent Thanks a million Kind regards Shakuntala

You can store both date and time as single column in datetime format..When pulling and displaying it in UI fill it into 2 different variables by parsing date and time separately
