How to fix update error?

Hi everyone I hava a code to update sql table but when i look at the table nothings happen its empty this is my code: Vote = count.ToString(); conn.Open(); CountUpdate.Parameters.Add( SqlCommand CountUpdate = new SqlCommand ( UPDATE FinalVotes SET Name=' +btnCandidates1.Text+ ' where Votes=' +Vote+ '  conn); CountUpdate.Parameters.Add( @Name  SqlDbType .VarChar100).Value= DBNull .Value; @Votes  SqlDbType .VarChar100).Value = DBNull .Value; CountUpdate.ExecuteNonQuery(); conn.Close(); please help me out this problem...thanks

The code is a jumble (probably pasted in from VS) but what I suspect you need is this: Vote = count.ToString(); conn.Open(); SqlCommand CountUpdate = new SqlCommand(UPDATE FinalVotes SET Name = @Name where Votes = @Votes conn); CountUpdate.Parameters.Add(@Name SqlDbType.VarChar100).Value = btnCandidates1.Text; CountUpdate.Parameters.Add(@Votes SqlDbType.VarChar100).Value = Vote CountUpdate.ExecuteNonQuery(); conn.Close();

Place a break point in the beginning of the code debug and let us know the outcome of ExecuteNonQuery() ExecuteReader() and ExecuteNonQuery() in your code. Also I didn't understand the following statements: int countvote=0; for (int i = 0; i { . . In the above code the for loop will run only once. Or did you miss any line which updates countvote? Otherwise you can remove the for loop.

Note that Vulpes is saying the same thing as I said except I said it as an explanation and Vulpes said it as sample code. In the code that Vulpes posted the CommandText is being set by passing the command in the SqlCommand constructor which is just a matter of personal preference whether you want to do it that way.

Nothing happens because there is nothing to do. Look at the articles in this web site for many samples that do work. You don't show what CountUpdate is. I assume it is a SqlCommand and if so then you need to set the CommandText Property and you are not doing that.
