There could be a way to generate barcodes without using any external DLLs but that depends on the type of barcode needed. Some common types have TrueType fonts that you can install on the computer. You can then draw text on a bitmap graphics object using that font and the text will be converted to barcode symbols. You can then take the bitmap and print it or save it to an image file. All this can be done without displaying the bitmap on screen. However if the barcode type you need is not covered by any good or free font you are better off using a good barcode library such as leadtools.

Hi It would be quite complicated if you don't use any dll since there're numerous types of barcode..And source code for every thpe of barcode varies..So you can choose a free barcode API to help you generate barcode image.
