how to get the id and value in dropdown list...

i have one dropdown list and one button dropdown list access data from data base which is product data product name and its id dropdown only show the name but when we click on the any product that give the id i want to get both of these and show in gridview on button click .thanks advance..

Set the ID as your DataValueField in your dropdown and then set the Name as your DataTextField. That way when you click on the Button you can get each values like this: string ID=DropDownList1.SelectedItem.Value; string name=DropDownList1.SelectedItem.Text; //jointhevaluestogether string nameID= string .Format( {0}{1} IDname);
