How to Install sharepoint Portal server

Hi Please any one help meand give the step by step solution My question is how to install sharepoint portal server in XP. I have Microsoft Visual Studio2008I want to know how to install and add templates like web parts etc...with in this Visual studio 2008 Thanks Subash

SharePoint can not be installed on Windows XP. Previous to SharePoint 2010 the only operating system you could install and develop on was a Windows Server operating system. With the release of SharePoint 2010 you can now install on Windows Vista and Windows 7 64bit systems.
