The majority of applications for Android are written in Java but the tool which interests us most on this site is Mono for Android ( http://android.xamarin.com/ ) which enables you to use C# instead. Unlike Mono itself this is a commercial product and you therefore have to purchase a license. A number of articles on how to use it have already been written.
