How to Match only four Character of a field in linq????

Question

Hey frnds..

2014000000
2014000001
2014000002
2014002013

2013000001
2013000002
2013002014
2013000004

from the given word i want to match only four char from starting with like query in linq.
means i want to select those record which start from 2014 or 2013 or 2015.

i don't get idea that how to write the query for this in linq...so please help me..

hi you can use StartsWith method of LINQ example List newstring = new List (); newstring.Add(2014000000); newstring.Add(2014000001); newstring.Add(2014000002); newstring.Add(2014002013); newstring.Add(2013000001); newstring.Add(2013000002); newstring.Add(2013002014); newstring.Add(2013000004); var filtered = from d in newstring where d.StartsWith(2014) select d; hope this will help you.

You can do something like var list = 20132014.Split(''); var words = from word in 201311111120141111112015111111.Split('') where list.Any(a => a == word.Substring(0 4)) select word; This will print 2013111111 & 2014111111

Not sure from your question whether you simply want to select those records beginning with 2014 2013 or 2015 as a single collection or whether you want to group them by year.
