Actually there are multiple ways to do that and good news is you don't have to write any algorithm. All we need is to convert int[] to a collection that implemets IEnumerable interface and then we'll apply Distinct LINQ operator on collection the Distinct operator will return us a unique number from collection. Before applying any LINQ operator make sure you have following using statement. using System.Linq; This is where all the LINQ operators on IEnumerable and IEnumerable  interfaces lives as extension methods Way #1: If you have an array declared like this var arr = new int [ 1 23 ]; //converting array to list var arrList = arr.OfType int >().ToList(); //getting unique number var uniqueNumber = arrList.Distinct(); Way #2: Declaring array using object initializer syntax give us an enumeratable collection by default and we don't need to convert it to List . var arrList = new int [] { 1 1 2 2 3 }; var uniqueNumber = arrList.Distinct();
