then you are simply using jquery function like that. var HoldComboxId=''; $('#ComboxID') .change(function() { HoldComboxId= $('#childcombo')[0].selectedIndex; }); function resetComboboxValue() { $('#childcombo')[0].selectedIndex = HoldComboxId ; }; The above function calling when your save button click.I assume your button click event is SaveRecords(); function SaveRecords() { resetComboboxValue(); } I update some code check this.

thank you rahul and Joginder,i'm using vb.net..the reset that i mean that after i click the save button it will reset back to as before i have made any selection in the combobox,the answer that rahul gave were not what i wanted.what i mean is when i click the button it will change back to its default before any selection were made...can anyone give other give other solution
