i am using sql and i want to load data in datatype of varchar which is more than 255 what the idea to do that

that is what I mentioned you can use nvarchar ( Max ) it supports more characters

if you wanted to update table column then use ALTER TABLE table_name ALTER COLUMN column_name nvarchar( Max ) -- if you dont know how much data will come later or ALTER TABLE table_name ALTER COLUMN column_name nvarchar( 500 ) --as much you required

the problem is i have a column 'result' datatype varchar(max) but whenever i key more 255 characters i don get the lest ,question is which datatypecan i use which can support more characters

In general, please refrain from declaring data types of bigger size than required.

you can use nvarchar(Max) as datatype for that field in database table

I am not too sure if I understand your question. From where did the magic number of 255 came to your mind? Is it MS-Access? You can specify the number in bracket while declaring the varchar data type. For example, varchar(1000) , to store 1000 chars. For varchar you can specify maximum 8000. If your requirement is even bigger, you can specify varchar(max) which is capable of stoing upto 2gb of data. Hope it helps!
