How to sort my alphanumeric data in datagridview column?

Hi How do i sort the alphanumeric column in a datagridview in c# windows application. and i hve the following data i1 i10 i20 i2 i3 i12 this is sorted in the form of i1 i10 i20 i2 i20 i3 but i want it in this format i1 i2 i3 i10 i20

If your DataGridView is bound to a DataTable then one thing you could do would be to add a 'calculated' column to the DataTable and then sort on that. After binding you can then hide this column in the DGV. Suppose the DataTable is 'dt' and the column which contains the i1 i2 etc. is called 'ID'. The code to bind the DataTable would then need to be altered as follows: DataColumn dc = dt.Columns.Add(Sort typeof(int)); dc.Expression = Convert(Substring(ID 2 Len(ID) - 1) 'System.Int32'); DataView dv = dt.DefaultView; dv.Sort = Sort; dataGridView1.DataSource = dv; dataGridView1.Columns[Sort].Visible = false;
