How to start after a career break

Question

Please give some advise on how to update my knowledge and kick start my career after 2 years break. I am having around 5 years of experience in different Microsoft technologies and took a break because of family priorities.

Hello Ruchi In addition to Technical Skills you must also be prepared to explain HR/Interviewer(s) why two years break. In INDIA for some reason it's not considered a good sign. but that is not a show stopper . So be prepared to answer that why? In last two years I don't think much has changed except new version of Technologies and .NET Framewor. So if you were familiar with MVC 3/4 then you can easily upgrade to MVC 5 and other related tools and technologies. Good luck and welcome back. Best Wishes.

As you have 5 years of experience it is good that you will get more opportunities. First refresh your mind and set that you are going to work in Software Industry. Then start refresh your .Net knowledge whatever you worked on. Let's say you worked on ASP.NET webforms SQL SERVER SSRS and so on. Go through advanced concepts and also old concepts whatever you worked on. Try to recap what ever you did before and append some new technologies to your resume. Now a days MVC AZURE WebAPI AngularJS are more demanding - you can add them in your resume to impress interviewer. Do not think more that you 2 yr break. Stay focused and think positive.
