how to start with sharepoint ?

hi all I'm an Asp.net C# developer. i want to learn SharePointServer. How should i start? i mean what basic thing i have to learn to start with sharepoint? Please any guidlines or articles links will be greatly appreciated.

The best way to get started with SharePoint is use SharePoint Foundation 2010. This is a free version that is available to individuals and small organizations. You will need either Windows Server 2003/2008 or Windows 7. It will not work on other operating systems. Check out this link for downloads and more details. Thanks for your answers both are good resources.. To mahesh sir: i was looking for such solution for installing sharepoint on win7 cause i have installed win7 on my machine and was stucked because of the sharepoint2007 was requiring window2003 server. Thanks for your great suggestion.
