how to validate a listbox is empty or with data

hi i want to validate a listbox wheather it is empty or not, i tried with required field validator but the reqfld validater is checking the any one item of list box was selected or not

i want validation of a list box, wheater it is empty or databound

iam binding the listbox from a xml page using dataset
