Html element for Code Annotation

Hi

If we are developing a web application in HTML5 in which we are using code listing. and some notes are attached with some lines of code. so I just want to ask that which of the HTML5 element most wrap the footnotes and comment Indicator in?

At this time you need a html 5 compatible annotation tool  with which you can add and draw annotation object on image and document page within a web document image viewer apart from annotation adding and drawing you also can combine and save the created image annotation easily.
