What is the difference between HTTP and HTTPS ? Can a user access secure web page over HTTP protocol instead of HTTPS?

Hi Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is a protocol used in networking. When you type any web address in your web browser your browser acts as a client and the computer having the requested information acts as a server. When client requests for any information from the server it uses HTTP protocol to do so. The server responds back to the client after the request completes Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is a combination of two different protocols. It is more secure way to access the web. It is combination of Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTPS) and SSL/TLS protocol. It is more secure way to sending request to server from a client also the communication is purely encrypted which means no one can know what you are looking for. Yes a user can access secure web page over HTTP protocol instead of HTTPS but if a user is going to put sensitive information such as a credit card number into a web page they would be foolish to do it without HTTPS and most users would refuse. HTTPS however has additional requirements and such as a certificate that costs money and requires additonal technical knowledge and experience so it is easier to avoid HTTPS if it is not needed. So you need to decide which one is most appropriate since usually one is much more appropriate for each situation than the other for the situation.

Hi Amit On a broad note HTTP is a protocol for information to be passed between server and client in unsecure manner while HTTPS does the same thing in a secure manner. The data is being encrypted on sending/receiving and also you have to make sure that the source/destination is correct from where the request/response was send  if you implement this than i guess you are using secure web page on HTTP.
