I cannot make the connection to the DB from the crystal reports OLE DB wizard!

Question

hi,

I use SQL server 2005 express on VS 2008 TS, I can make connection to DB from the server explorer but i cannot make connections from teh Crystal reports OLE DB connection wizard, the drop down box doesnt show my SQL server. How do i fix this?

Thanks for your responses kirtan, Unfortunately i neither of your ways worked, however i was able to find some answers from the web, i found this link i had to execute some command from teh SQL command line, then i had to make a DSN file then i had to create a SQL Native client object then only at least i could get some kind of an acess through RDO. But still i cannot connect through OLE DB ADO...

Hey Friend, Here I m posting again because your thread was not showing in list Error Shows that user login failed there is no problem with SQL Server but you have problem with SQL Server Login you need to configure the permissions correctly in SQL server management studio Right-click the server in the object explorer and click properties to bring up the "Server Properties" window as shown in the screenshot below. just change Radio Button Selection to "SQL SERVER and WindowsAuthentication Mode "Restart the computer or Restart SQL Server Services :) Done !!

sql express does not support Crystal reports it doesnt contain the datastructure for it to be read from the MSDB DB. which is part of the installation of Crystal reports

Hi, Thanks for the answer... I have already installed the SSMS, in the Server Explorer... i could make DB Connections but i cannot from the Crystal reports wizard, teh Crystal reports wizard doesnt show my instance of the SQL Server 2k5.....

Install SQL Server Management Studio and See weather there is instance of SQL Server or Not may be after installing SSMS you will see the Sql Server instance in wizard :) dont forget to mark "do you like this answer" if it helped you :)
