what is the difference b/w IIS and TFS?

Hi Sai, IIS is a webserver, you can host your .net Sites/application in it. TFS is versioning control, using this u can maintain repositories, build process.Also we can use it has eproject management tool as Agile. As you mentioned in the above thread its like a ticket system, assigning PBI/Bug. Suppose you fixed some bugs or implemented one PBI then you pushed your code changes to TFS repository right. Then you/build team do the build process right and they will create version for that build like Omd1.14. Now they can deploy it in QA, Once everything is working in QA, Same build they deploy it in Production. Here your question is, is your manager moved code from iis to production right. Yes exactly he did the same. That means once you build the code through MS build it can create one published file, that file you can use it for deploying either in Qa/production.

IIS is the server hosting your web application. He will use Visual Studio to publish the latest version of your application (or the TFS build option), and copy those updated files to the server where IIS is running.

In my cmpny we have some tickets(issues raised) from endusers and we will solve it and using TFS we will check-In the code changes and aftr testing completes my manager will move it to production my doubt is what he will do, did he use iis to move the changes to production.thanks

" This is what you use to store and track your code changes over time.

IIS is a webserver, TFS is a versioning system. They are two very different products so stating the difference is a bit pointless.
