Insert error

Question

I am getting an error in the FORMN in the following:

INSERT

INTO PROFADJUST(ClaimNbr, ClaimLine, Copay, Deduct, SubmissionPeriod)

SELECT cast((FORMN + 'E' + CHKDT) AS varchar2(17)),

CLMSQ

,COPAM,DCTAM,CHKDTFROM HENCDP;

Any idea?

Here is what I finally used. Someone here helped me. Some names were changed but this is it. I was using the + sign instead of ||. INSERT INTO PROF_HIST (ClaimNbr ClaimLine Copay Deduct SubmissionPeriod) SELECT FORMN || 'E' || PSVDT as ClaimNbr CLMSQ COPAM DCTAM CHKDT FROM HENCDP

hi i think this error due to conversion date to varchar. can please know us what error you are getting? also share data type of inserting and selecting table. thx.

I get the same error but here is what I think I am trying to do SELECT FORMN + 'E' + cast( CHKDT AS varchar2 ( 8 ))
