Not necessarily. If you're lucky enough to find a good one, then a 'human' teacher is the best option as (s)he can explain things in terms you can understand and help you if you get stuck. However, the important thing, in my view, is to obtain a firm foundation on which to build. If you don't have access to a human teacher, then the easiest way to obtain such a foundation is from books and video courses which teach programming from scratch in a consistent fashion. Although personally I've always preferred printed books, there's no reason why you can't use e-books and videos available on the internet for this purpose. However you learn, you have to practice programming constantly - a theoretical knowledge is one thing but practice is the only way that you 'really' learn how to do it.
