Is Close() method of WPF is enough?

Question

Hi All I have a WPF window which I had used several components like textBoxes textBlocks comboBoxes and buttons. These component's events have been used to get the updated values like TextChangedSelectionChanged Click events. I read several articles regarding removing of the resources by calling the Close() method of WPF. But will it clear every hooked up event's resources also? If not should I implement a method to Un-hook these events? Kindly share your ideas! Thanks & Regards Amresh S.

@Amresh As the version of. NET Framwork increases  classes on it adopts vast changes to manage the resources  developers of wpf had allmost remove all the burden of disposing the resources all the time as we faced it in windows form. The classes are purely managed and avoid memory leak and other type of problems. You have also noticed that wpf is much faster than windows form the reason that windows form works on GDI+ whereas WPF works on directX which enhance the performance issue. Yes close () will do all the stuff and that is more than enough for releasing the resources.

Revoking event handlers is just opposite of applying. canvas1 . MouseDown += onMouseDown ; and you can remove the eventhandler again: canvas1 . MouseDown -= onMouseDown ; Moreover if you want to cleanup tge resources used by a control you can pass null. myCanvas =null; Thats it. Do let me know if you require any assistance

ResourceDictionary rd = new ResourceDictionary (); rd . Source = new Uri ( @pack://application:/WpfApplication1;component/Dictionary + dic + .xaml ); this . Resources . Clear (); this . Resources = rd ; Hope it helps.

Hi @Amit Thank you for your response. I aware of the way to revoke the event handler but in Winforms we need can implement a Dispose() method so that the resources and memory leaks can be avoided. While in WPF it is stated that just the Close() method of a window is enough to clear all the resources used by invoking event handlers. My point is that whether it could avoid Memory leaks or not. If so I have to trigger a custom dispose method by some specific scenario to do it. Ofcourse I will implement the code for revoking the event handler in the same way.
