Is Windows Phone a flop product?

Question

We've been building Windows Phone apps for over 2 years now as Microsoft developers but in real world (in USA), I have not seen even a single guy who has a Windows Phone. Is Nokia and Windows Phone a flop combination destined to fail?

Windows Phone 7 might have a small market share but in here i saw people gained lots of money from their apps. "Metro" name was a trademark of another company in Germany.Thats why they had to give up on it. The german company tricked Microsoft! its bad for business to change a product name after announcement and yet not released.

I couldn't believe it when I reading your News item, Mahesh: http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/news/1710/windows-metro-style-dead.aspx I simply don't buy that it was just a code name. So how could they slip up on such a fundamental marketing point?

Yes, its a shame Microsoft has to drop Metro name. So much was already vested in it.

As Praveen says, the market share is abysmal so, yes, it is a flop. The question now is whether Windows Phone 8 which sports a similar interface will do any better? I guess Microsft are gambling that having the same 'Metro' interface across all Windows 8 devices will drive phone sales and it probably will if Windows 8 Laptops/PCs and their Surface tablet sell well. However, having to abandon the 'Metro' name at this late stage, apparently for trademark reasons, hardly fills one with confidence!

Compared to other OS and manufacturer, windows phone and nokia is not doing well. Market share of windows phone 7 is just 1.3%.
