Is XML documentation .NET standard?

Question

Hi all! I have a question about XML documentation. Is it the standard used for documenting public methods in .Net? I've seen the use of it in many projects, but i do not know if it is a standard and I have to use documentation of public methods according to .Net standard in my project-. So, am i going on the rigt track if I use them? Thanks
