working on an application where I need to randomly read word from a text file which I have created and filled with different words any help will be highly appreciated thanks in advance

Windows Phone development is not my thing but if you first need to read in the file from isolated storage, I'd have thought you'd need code similar to this: IsolatedStorageFile myFile = IsolatedStorageFile.GetUserStoreForApplication(); StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(new IsolatedStorageFileStream("somefile.txt", FileMode.Open, myFile)); string text = reader.ReadToEnd(); reader.Close(); Assuming you can use regular expressions in Windows Phone programming, you can then do: MatchCollection mc = Regex.Matches(text, @"\b\w+\b"); int index = rand.Next(0, mc.Count); string randWord = mc[index].Value; and display randWord in a textbox or something.

ok tried your code but what i actually need is how i can read a text file that i have added in my project in windows phone app. i added the file by clicking on my project and adding an item
