List of computers on local network

Hi all I'm new here. I have a quastion: How can I get a list of all computers (name or ip) that active or exist on a local network. In the fastest way ? Thanx

Thank you for you help. I have no idea about VB. ;-( and how to conver it to c#. My .Net 2003 says that it on't have DirectoryServices ! also I don't know the Domain name. I'm working on my Colage's lab... needs more etails thanx again
