location based application

Question

I would like to develop a location based application for my college campus. i.e using this application user at location A wanting to reach location Bcan receive directions and a map to B on his handset/pda. The directions should not be static but should change based upon the user location. how to do this application in vb.net? Any ideas/suggestions are welcome. thanks abcdef

This is just an idea: Have a table of 4 columns. StartPointDestinationDirectionsMapFileName (With StartPoint & Destination as PriKey) Have a form that allows the user to select Destination. (Assuming the App will be deployed on multiple PC's) you can have the StartPoint stored in a file or config file on the local machine. (StartPoint in config file would differ as where the machine is located). When the user selects the destination you would retrieve the Directions & MapFileName based on the StartPoint (From Config File) and the Destination. As for the Maps my idea here is not the most efficient as you will have to create seperate maps for each StartPoint/Destination combination. I'm not sure how you could upload the information to a PDA. Hope this helps and gets you started.
