C# is designed to force use of a class or struct for everything; everything must be in a class or struct. Yet Windows executes programs written in many languages and does not know how to create a class, so we must make the Main function static so Windows does not need to create an instance of a class. If Main() were an instance method, then you'd need to create an instance of its containing class before you could call it. As the Main() method must be the first method that is called when a program begins execution, it therefore has to be static.
