Maintain database

Question

Dear all One of my client system sql server database size is almost 35GB. & the size of database increasing 200-250mb on daily basis. My issue is: Application giving slow response to user. so is there is any technique to resolve this issue.

Hi Pravin below are some points you should take care of..... 1.The best thing to do is analyse your indexes and make sure that the fields that you are searching on are indexed correctly. create missing indexes. 2.Also look at the SQL queries if you are using a lot of functions in the SQL see if they can be done via code easily. 3. use joins instead of sub-queries. 4. Reduce the amount of physical disk access do more processing at code side. Thanks Pravin.

Hi Pravin 4. Reduce the amount of physical disk access do more processing at code side. it means if you are using that database in any application (say any .net application) then you need some processed data i mean calculations on existing data. so its good if you take data from database as it is and do calculative part in .net. so once you get data of specific table then you can do diffenrent operations on it instead of going to database everytime. i hope i am able to explain that point. Thanx Pravin for ur reply. sorry pravin i doesn't understand 4th point. can u plz elaborate it? Also i there is any technique through which only latest data would be data will be compressed or archived.
