Making Dll Icon Set

Question

New to this hope I am in right place. Saw an article by Tanmay Sarkar on making a dll file which contains an icon set like SHELL32.dll. I need to know what program I can use to do that. I downloaded Visual Studio but cannot seem to locate steps to follow his article. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....

Thank you; that helps for understanding what you are asking. So is this not for a program you wrote? I ask this because if you wrote the program it is possible to put the icons into the exe file for your program. I assume you are doing this for icons in the Windows Explorer; is that correct? I am not sure of the details of how to do it but if I understand what you are doing then you are looking for instructions for creating a Resource-Only DLL as described in Creating a Resource-Only DLL . If that is what you are looking for then there might be easier solutions.

I want to use my own icons instead of the OEMs that are located in SHELL32.dll. I need to know what program I can use to make a .dll that will contain the icons I have made up. This way when I right click to change a folder icon I will go to a .dll file that will contain my made up icons and not the OEM set of icons. I downloaded Visual Studio 2010 andthought that could be used to make my .dll up. Am I going in the right direction? Thanks for any help.....
