Mentor for Github

Hi All I am .net developer with 3+ years of experience. i am very interested in coding. i want to contribute to open source. i tried to contribute to github projects. i am not able to undertsand where to start. any suggestions how to start contributing. any mentors avialable that is greate help for me

Hello Vasu Welcome to the open source community of programmers. But first you need to understand a few things: All of the open source contributions require contributions by anyone everyone. There are sections where they require contributions. Your contribution should be following their standards and community must approve it. If you can follow these steps then you can simply just publish the changes to the online repository; either through the web portal or by using simple git commands such as git push etc. They will review the changes and then publish if they consider it helpful. If for some reasons they do not approve your changes and ask you to rethink your ideas you will always have the option to  fork  their repository and change it to something  entirely  different. You can implement your own ideas in the new repository that you forked from that initial one. In the new one you can make your own changes make contributions. If other people enjoy it they will have your repository as their repository and so on... That is the main benefit of having an open source contribution. As to where to start there are many ways that you can start. Every repository has some issues open you can start by solving them. If there are bugs you can start by solving and removing those bugs if there are some translations required do them. In other words there are quite a lot of ways that you can contribute. Formally here is a list of a few Add more features through coding. Solve problems such as RAM consumption CPU overloads. Find and fix bugs coding bugs UI bugs etc. Add translations. Solve issues of users provide help and mentorship to them. Fork and update -- if main branch doesn't allow you to add a new feature that you consider helpful.
