movable main window

Question

I'm trying to make my main form be draggable. As in let the user click anywhere on the main form hold the button and drag the app with cursor. Does anybody have any tutorials or any reference to how this can be accomplished?

hi you could also use the native functions of windows. overwrite WndProc and wait for a WM_NCHITTEST message. just insert the following Code in your Form-Class and the form will be draggable. protected override void WndProc(ref Message m) { if(m.Msg == 0x0084){/*WM_NCHITTEST*/ m.Result= (IntPtr)2; // HTCLIENT return; } base.WndProc(ref m); //let the system do the rest }

Try using the MouseDown MouseMove and MouseUp events. The simplest way is to add them from the design view and then simply fill out the functions with code to do what you want. When the button is pressed store the mouse coordinates and set a flag to indicate that you are moving the form Form1_MouseDown(Object * sender MouseEventArgs * e) { isMoving = true; lastPositionX = e->X; lastPositionY = e->Y; } When the mouse is moved change the forms left and top properties coresponding to the change of mouse position Form1_MouseMove(Object * sender MouseEventArgs * e) { if (isMoving) { deltaX = e->X - lastPositionX; deltaY = e->Y - lastPositionY; Form1->Left += deltaX; Form1->Top += deltaY; lastPositionX = e->X; lastPositionY = e->Y; } } When the mouse button is released set the flag to indicate that the move is complete Form1_MouseUp(Object * sender MouseEventArgs * e) { isMoving = false; } I have not tried this out for forms myself only on objects drawn in a picture box control but I think the genral idea is applicable here as well..
