You can have it as an essential additional skill but I will be very much surprised if you could make a career out of it. May be if you are an employee of a big bank like Barclays / Bank of America / etc. Even then what if you loose your job and all you know is Excel VBA. It is like saying all I know is JavaScript just as an example.

I dont have much idea about excel we use with vb in developers very rare but you can learn new technologies which are present ongoing trend in the market like Net core and C# 7.0
