MSc IT or MCA

Question

Hi I have completed my BSc IT in 2007 and have a work ex of 3.5 years. I am planning to do MSc IT as i have heard that MCA is of 3 years has approx the same syllabus as BSc IT (MSc IT lets us learn new technologies) and after doing MSc IT if we want to do MCA  we can do from MCA 3rd year. In this way we get 2 degrees. 1. Is the above thing correct? 2. Is Mumbai University better for doing MSc IT. 3. Doing a distance learning counts in PT or FT degree value? I have noticed in INDIA IGNOU and other distance Universities do not get same recognition as full-time universities.

As you have 3 years of experience I think there should not be more to focus on your degreee but industry demands for mca more than msc if you see 100 advertisement out of that 90 they demand for BE/B TECH/MCA only no more comapnies hire msc people as it is not professional course. another thing is that how you can you show 3 years of experience because you was learning and if you said i did job while learning or i did part time college then it might affect for getting good job

Degree is recognized by UGC and in case distance education DEC and now with IGNOU. For technical degree/course it must be also recognized by technical autohority i.e. AICTE(All India council for Technical Education). There are many open university (state as well central) and they are offering both MSc & MCA courses. If any technical degree is not recognized with AICTE it is a normal degree. In distance / Open learning almost all universities MCA is not recognized with AICTE. There is one Central Open University known to me is IGNOU. IGNOU's MCA is AICTE recognized and have Global level (abroad also). Mumbai University is offering MCA which is year wise and not flexible. You need to clear all papers and then only you will promoted. Other Universities promotes you in next semester/year even you fail to clear some course-papers. Many peoples are fond of Mumbai University as they think doing MCA from it is hard and a matter of respect. For more information please refer their websites. Many universities are offering lateral entry in their MCA program i.e. 2Year MCA after graduation in IT.

I dont think so...MCA is a professional degree...MSC IT i think not a professional degree..Bettter DO MCA most companies prefer that.MSC IT also good

1. BSc IT and MCA do not have same syllabus. MCN is more extended and allows more time to focus on each subject. Alothough subjects may look familiar but last few semesters are lot of programming which BSc does not have. 2. Not sure about this 3. Distance learning still counts as your full-time degree. Although some companies may not prefer it.
