Multiuser application on a local network

Question

Hi I have already worked with C# but only for simple applications. Now I have to build a multiuser application with a central database. I have already done a bit of reserach on this topic and I found that building a simple application and then deploying it on different pcs is a solution. But as my application will allow users to change data how can i control if more than one users are editing the database at the same time? Thanks in advance. Anila

I think these questions are best answered in a book about database programming. There are many good books. Try searching the forums here for previous answers about what books. Previously the result set determined whether data could be safely updated by multiple users. I don't know if the same terminology is used but I suggest looking at the options available for making a connectoin. To get automatic inter-system database updates you probably need to use something such as a trigger. When I tried to reserch that type of thing the main thing I learned is that there is nothing in ADO that makes it easy.

Ok. Another question: when a new entry is being made I will have to refresh the database to prevent any confusions am I right?

You are looking to build a client-server application and you will use locking on the records so when a record is being edited other users can't edit it.
