My question is regarding Asp.net C # and Sql server 2008

Question

i am working on windows application in database i have a table which has Invoice number which is a primary key and keep increments by one number or so, when ever a new record is added, so what i want is,

i have a form which requires invoice number to be loaded in that form when page load, and when the record is saved that invoice number to be shown in a message box,

Sir please help me to achieve this,

I would suggest - on the page load.. get the last invoice number from the table andin thepage increment by one and display itnext to the invoice label onUI. so when the record is save you have the invoice number that is unique and you can save in and insert a record in the database and show the same number in message box once the record is saved.. Hope this helps.

Use Storedprocedure in SP use below query as insert into InvoiceTable(itemnameqty) value(@item@name@qty) select @@identity as InvoiceNo So don't use ExecuteQuery(); use dataTable to execute the above SP.

Hi According to your table structure you will get invoice number only when a new row is inserted in to table. So in order for you to show that invoice number in form before saving data you have to insert a new empty row whenever someone views a form and retrieve that invoice number and display it in form. Now when users submits form you have to update the row with the invoice number that you showed in the form.
