Name validation help!

Question

hello guys i have a textbox in a form called form1 where the user is to fill his/her name i need to do some validation to the textbox so that the user inputs only alphabetical letters i also need to display the user inputs to another form where i have a multiline textbox can some one show me how to do this.thanks Ps. if you put some code here can you please put it in a way so that i will now which is for which .so i will learn bit by bit.thanks

An easy way to do that is to use the TextInfo.ToTitleCase() method: // add this using directive using System.Globalization; // change the other code to the following TextBox tb = form2.Controls[mlTextBox] as TextBox if (tb != null) // if it's null something's wrong! { TextInfo ti = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.TextInfo; string name = this.textBox1.Text.Trim() +   + this.textBox2.Text.Trim(); tb.Text = ti.ToTitleCase(name); }

hvulpes thanks for your help full reply as alwaysyour coding is very helpfull for a new guy to programming like me .as regarding the name what i am doing is the first name is placed in a textbox and the surname is placed in another. what i had in mind was that when the name is passed to the textbox in the other form it is displayed with the first latter of both name and surname as capital letters Ex:- paul is displayed Paul .thanks

On the first point would the user only be inputting a single name or his/her full name? In the latter case you'd need to allow for spaces as well as letters and some names may be hyphenated or contain apostrophes so you'd need to allow for them in your regular expression as well. On the second point there are many ways to communicate between forms. I'll give you just the simplest here which doesn't involve changing your existing code but it may not necessarily be the most appropriate for the circumstances. Suppose the second form is called Form2 and the multiline textbox is called mlTextBox. The code to access it from the first form would then be as follows: Form2 form2 = Application.OpenForms[Form2] as Form2; if (form2 == null) // it's not open so open it { form2 = new Form2(); form2.Show(); } // get reference to multiline text box (assumed to be placed directly on the form) TextBox tb = form2.Controls[mlTextBox] as TextBox if (tb != null) // if it's null something's wrong! { tb.Text = this.textBox1.Text; // assuming textBox1 is on first form }

You can validate Your TextBox as Like If (System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex.IsMatch( this.textBox1.Text ^[a-z]*$)) Then else
