Need advice on scope of Mtech from IIT

Question

Hi All I am a dotnet programmer having 3.3 years of experience and working in the same company from the day one and about an education I am a Msc.IT holder I didn't get good exposure to the new technology of dotnet and having average salary. I was just thinking of Mtech I want to know what is the scope of MTech? Do I need to do Mtech or would go for some other specialization? Is it right time for me to do MTech? Please provide your suggestions. Thank you!

M.Tech cannot fetch better Job Opportunities as it is just another course with old syllabus (same like M.Sc MCA) BUT.. M.Tech IIT would be an excellent idea >> as the BRAND VALUE of IIT is still at peak you will definitely get niche opportunities better salary in the long run. There is no problem with your age usually the M.Tech guys will be around 25-30's as long as you can cope with changes work efficiently age is not a problem.. I know the context why you asked so - In India developers have an age threshhold :) FYI: I have worked with an M.Tech IITian who was a Regular B.Tech he chosen IIT because the regular B.Tech was not fetching job during the time once after M.Tech IIT he was well placed in fresher salary equivalent to 10 Year .Net guy :) Plus the work was on niche areas. In short IIT gives good LEVERAGE! :) So if you can get through IIT Entrance & afford learning for 2 more years it would be a VERY GOOD investment for next 20-30 years to come. All the Best!

Hi jeansir I didn't think about doing M.Tech before. Yes I try to do PhD after Completion of MCA but due to less experience they rejected me in oral interview. Do I also go for M.Tech? I am 24. And my financial condition is not so good. My cousin has recently do M.Tech from PDPU Gandhinagar and got job in Mahindra & Mahindra mumbai.

Hi Jean First of all I would like to thank you for boosting me up and what you said is really true. And I am going to start preparation for GATE exam in couple of days. I went through some sites for GATE syllabus and exam details that is ok but I don't know anyone with MTech IIT. Can you please guide or suggest me for the GATE Exam? Thank you so much.. :)
