in .net what is the meaning of (.) dot??

Well it would be an awful question to be asked at an interview but in .NET '.' is a token which is used in the following cases: 1. When accessing an instance member to separate the object expression from the member. For example: MyClass mc = new MyClass(); mc.MyInstanceMethod(); 2. When accessing a static member to separate the class (or struct) name from the member. For example: MyClass.MyStaticMethod(); 3. To separate nested entities such as namespaces and types from their parents.For example: MyNamespace.MyClass.MyNestedClass mnc = MyNamespace.MyClass.MyNestedClass(); Note that the above answer is 'off the top' and so may not necessarily be exhaustive.

I don't think there is any real meaning of it but I am also curious. Interesting question actually.
