Newbie question... HELP

Question

Hi  may i know how can i check wether a user exist or not in the database. Like a registration page  i wanna check if the user nric is already in the database and if it does not exist then it will store the new user data.

Hi simpy you have to search the databse for that name .... if it doesnt exist then add it to the database otherwise ................
