No access to datareader in .net 2.0 - How to bind a textbox??

Question

In version 1 of asp.net I used a datareader to put data into a textbox. In version 2 the datareader (and dataset) are hidden inside the new data controls (like sqldatasource). I must be missing something here - and I've been trying for hours. Any help please?
