Not able to import certain namespaces in c# class

Question

Hi I am not able to import namespaces like.. using System.Data.SqlClient; and other namespaces... Can someone plzz help.. Whats wrong ? i am using VS 2005.

:) Murali said it right. You need to add the reference to the assembly (System.Data.SqlClient.Dll)

Hi Check the GAC folder(windows\assembly) for System.Data.dll file. If you cant see that dll install the Framework 2.0 once again. It will fix the problem..

The namespaces specified in using statements do not provide much information for the compiler. Everything that the compiler needs is in the references. The using statements just make it easier for you and make it possible for you type less code. Do you understand about making references? For example you must have a reference to System.Data because without it you can't use a using statement for System.Data.SqlClient.

Before re-installing .net framework first check the availability of dll in c:\windows\assembly folder. This will stop you unnecessary installation of .net framework.

First the check the System.Data is present in C:\Windows\Assembly folder (the other dll's also). Open VS 2005-->Create New Project->Windows /Web/Console Application--> Right the Project in Solution Explorer-->Add References--> Click the .net Tab--> Select the references here. This should work. If you unable to fnd the System.Data in c:\windows\Assembly folder please re-install the .net framework[version 2.0 or based on your project]. Hope this helps you.

I thing There is a problem in ur system assemblies try to add refrence of this assambly using add reference option and search this assemblies into ur .net tab and add it.
